At present, the vast majority of manufacturers in the foundry industry know that inoculants are used to improve the quality of castings. Indeed, inoculants do play a great role in the process of casting production. However, the inoculant should be used with great caution. A little carelessness may cause great production problems. The following is the relevant knowledge about inoculant summarized by engineers of the Technology Department of Changzhou Wartai Alloy Co., Ltd. through years of work experience for your reference:

The following is the relevant knowledge about inoculant summarized by engineers of the Technology Department of Changzhou Wartai Alloy Co., Ltd. through years of work experience for your reference:

Function of inoculant:

The mechanical properties of grey cast iron without inoculation treatment are low, the microstructure is unstable, and the thin wall of the casting is easy to appear white mouth. Therefore, in order to ensure the consistency of casting quality, inoculation treatment is an indispensable link.

The amount of inoculant used for inoculation of cast iron is very small, which has little effect on the chemical composition of cast iron, but has a great effect on its microstructure. The mechanical properties of gray cast iron largely depend on its microstructure. As long as the mechanical properties of gray cast iron can be improved, its physical properties will also be significantly affected.

Use method of inoculant:

(1) Inverted ladle inoculation: add the inoculant into the ladle, and then pour it into the molten iron to melt it evenly.

(2) The added amount is about 1.0-1.8% of the weight of molten iron.
